With the Association of Wine Cities and the Wine Tourism Movement

The Wine Tourism Movement and the National Association of Wine Cities unite to celebrate one of the summer events that is most appreciated by wine lovers.

Calici di Stelle (wine under the stars) returns on Friday August 10th; it is the event held in the most typical piazza’s and historical centers of Italy, featuring a toast with the best wines of Italy.

More than 200 wine cities will participate in the 10th edition of Calici di Stelle with shows, tastings, tasting competitions, music and art in the piazza’s and parks of each town (the complete programme will be online from end of July on www.cittadelvino.it).
To enrich the hospitality programme some of the wineries of the Wine Tourism Movement will open their doors to offer the public their premium products in a setting that enhances the pairing of food and wine.

“The collaboration between the Movement and the Wine Cities” – notes Chiara Lungarotti, President of the Wine Tourism Movement, “shows the strong desire of both associations to provide development opportunities for wine tourism, making it grow also through events such as Calici di Stelle, aimed at strengthening the indispensible bond between wine, territory and its enthusiastic tasters. On the other hand” – continues President Lungarotti – “both the movement and the Wine Cities have the goal of promoting and supporting the excellent products of our vineyards.”

“This tenth edition of Calici di Stelle is the most important wine and food event of the summer” –notes Valentino Valentini, President of the Wine Cities Association. An event that attracts more than one million people to the piazzas of the 200 Wine Cities, a huge showcase for the tourist attractions and wine and food offerings of the small towns and rural areas, with the addition this year of Rome and Florence.”

The 2007 edition of Calici di Stelle will feature the two splendid cities of Rome and Florence, that will make the night of San Lorenzo truly unique: in Rome, the event will be held in the Villa Borghese complex, in the Parco dei Daini, while in Florence the location will be Forte Belvedere.

Another highlight this year will be the collaboration with Tep Solution, a leading company in energy saving, which will hand out to all the Calici di Stelle participants a kit for sensitizing the public on using energy and water responsibly.

With its programme rich in entertainment and culture, Calici di Stelle will also be a must for the many tourists that visit our towns and cities during the summer. Wine, art, music and the stars will be the ingredients of this night to be savoured with wine-glass in hand and eyes on the stars.
