The thousands of wine tourists that follow with enthusiasm the activities organized by WTM, are looking forward to the event dedicated to Novello Wine tasting.
“Novello in the Winery” on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th November will bring wine tourists to discover the flavour of Novello wine on the Sunday after Novello wine is released.
The members of WTM will again open their wineries to offer tastings of their products with typical local food.
Novello Wine is ready a few weeks after the harvest and is obtained by carbonic maceration, a special method invented by Benedectine monks from the 16th century that has its origins in “vin murato”.
“This appointment arrives a few weeks after ‘Welcome Harvest’, in a particularly exciting time” – says Chiara Lungarotti, President of WTM – “The statistics relating to 2006 show a 2,5%, decrease in production of wine, while novello wine results with respect to 2005 presents only a 1,3% decrease. This data is reassuring for the product that for thirty years has been the first fruit of the harvest to arrive on the Italian tables. (Data from a study by Istituto Italiano Vino Novello)
“Now this trend that in 2006 had turned over 72.893.505 €, counts almost 330 producers and 16 million bottles, so we can surely define it as a consolidated product in the Italian market. I think that Novello in the Winery like offers customers a tasting preview of the quality of the harvest”, states Chiara Lungarotti.
